Keeping A Journal as Therapy
My childhood ended November 28, 1978 when my girlfriend was killed by a drunk driver. I had just said good bye to her and as she started on her way home a flash of green went past me by mere inches, Kim was not that lucky. We had been together since Kindergarten till 5th grade. She was popular I was not. She kept the other's away when they started to harass me. When she was killed, I lost that protection. I would write about the loss and pain. Little did I know 4 years later I would join a band and my written thoughts would become songs. I built a 1968 Pontiac GTO from the frame up. It took me 5 years to do as the car was a total that had gotten wrapped around a big oak tree. All the day to day things I did all written down. Best therapy ever. Basic Training, Advanced Individual Training, First duty station, my first aircraft, first flight, all written down. Loves and loss, meeting my future wife, birth of my kids, their milestones, all written down.
Re: Keeping A Journal as Therapy
Sorry about your girlfriend.
A journal is a great way to deal with pain and is good for self-therapy.

Re: Keeping A Journal as Therapy
Yes it is, it takes discipline like most things do but it shows how far one has come too.
